Draft blog posts, internal materials, images, PDFs. The reason? A CMS configuration error that caused draft documents to end up in a publicly indexed data store. It was first reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2026\/03\/26\/anthropic-says-testing-mythos-powerful-new-ai-model-after-data-leak-reveals-its-existence-step-change-in-capabilities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fortune magazine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Among the documents was a description of a new AI model codenamed <strong>Mythos<\/strong> (internal project name: Capybara).<\/p>\n<p>What do we know from this Anthropic leak about Mythos:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201eThis is a new class of model, larger and more intelligent than Opus models.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Anthropic calls it <strong>\u201ebreakthrough change\u201d<\/strong> (step change) in AI capabilities<\/li>\n<li>Programming, reasoning, and cybersecurity test results are significantly better than Claude Opus 4.6<\/li>\n<li>The internal assessment states plainly: Mythos is \u201efar ahead of every other AI model in cyber capabilities.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The most serious thread? Documents show that Anthropic <strong>privately warns US government officials<\/strong> before the rise of large-scale cyberattacks in 2026. More about the threats <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/next\/2026\/03\/30\/what-is-anthropics-mythos-the-leaked-ai-model-that-poses-unprecedented-cybersecurity-risks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Euronews described<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But that's not the end of this week.<\/p>\n<h3>Claude Code source code on npm (March 31)<\/h3>\n<p>4:23 AM Eastern Time. Chaofan Shou, an intern at Solayer Labs, is downloading a routine update <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npmjs.com\/package\/@anthropic-ai\/claude-code\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Claude Code<\/a> z <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npmjs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">npm registry<\/a>. The package weighs 59.8 MB. Normally, it's a few megabytes. He opens it, looks, and sees half a million lines of Anthropic's complete source code. Feature flags, system prompts, product plans. Everything. Before Anthropic could react, the code was already on GitHub. Deleting the package from npm didn't help.<\/p>\n<p>How did this happen? Claude Code uses the Bun bundler, which generates source maps by default. A source map file is a debugging tool that maps compressed code back to readable source. All it took was a missing entry in <code>.npmignore<\/code>. A detailed analysis of this Anthropic leak <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.to\/gabrielanhaia\/claude-codes-entire-source-code-was-just-leaked-via-npm-source-maps-heres-whats-inside-cjo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dev.to<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Scale? <strong>1,900 files. 512,000+ lines of TypeeScript code.<\/strong> Full, readable code for Anthropic's flagship AI programming tool.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>What was found after the Anthropic leak in the code?<\/h2>\n<p>Code analysis revealed things that Anthropic would prefer to keep to themselves. And which say a lot about where the entire industry is heading.<\/p>\n<h3>44 feature flags<\/h3>\n<p>Code found <strong>44 feature flags<\/strong>. Switches controlling access to built, but inactive features. These are not prototypes. This is ready, compiled code waiting to be turned on.<\/p>\n<h3>KAIROS: Agent operating non-stop<\/h3>\n<p>The biggest discovery from the Anthropic leak. KAIROS (from the Greek for \u201eright time\u201d) appears in the code over 150 times. It turns Claude Code from an on-demand tool into an carnomous background daemon. GitHub webhook sessions, cron job scheduling, carmatic resume without commands. And the most interesting part? The processs <strong>carDream<\/strong>, which is \u201ememory consolidation\u201d during times when the user is inactive. AI that works while you sleep.<\/p>\n<p>But KAIROS is not the only discovery. The next one is even stranger.<\/p>\n<h3>BUDDY: virtual pet<\/h3>\n<p>No one expected this. Claude Code has a system <strong>virtual Tamagotchi-style companion<\/strong>. Rarity-varying species, shiny variants, procedurally generated stats. Buddy sits in a speech bubble next to the text field. Yes, seriously.<\/p>\n<h3>Coordinator Mode and others<\/h3>\n<p>In the catalog <code>Coordinator<\/code> hidden is a multi-agent orchestration system. It turns Claude Code into a coordinator managing multiple agents in parallel. In addition to this: voice command mode, browser control via <a href=\"https:\/\/playwright.dev\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Playwright<\/a>, persistent memory between sessions, internal employee-only tools, and built-in system prompts.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Anthropic Leak: Company Response<\/h2>\n<p>The company concompaNosed the existence of Mythos and described it as a \u201enew class of model\u201d representing a \u201ebreakthrough change.\u201d Due to cybersecurity concerns, it is limiting early access to cybersecurity defense organizations.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the Claude Code, the advocate said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201eToday's Claude Code release contained some internal source code. No customer data or credentials were exposed. This was a release packaging issue caused by human error, not a security breach.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The package disappeared from npm. Thiso late. The code was already on GitHub.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Anthropic Leak and Your Company's Security<\/h2>\n<h3>Open Door Syndrome<\/h3>\n<p>Most compaNos think a breach is a hacking problem. That someone has to break in. The truth is, the most dangerous breaches are misconfigurations. A missing entry in <code>.npmignore<\/code>. Publiczny bucket S3. Draft w CMS-ie without flagi \u201eprywatny\u201d. Zero hakerstwa, 100% ludzkiego b\u0142\u0119du.<\/p>\n<p>Anthropic. Billions in budget. Thisp-tier engineers. The industry's best AI safety practices. And all it took was a missing entry in a single configuration file.<\/p>\n<p>No one broke in. The by was just open. That's <strong>open by syndrome<\/strong>CompaNos invest in locks, alarms, and surveillance, and then leave keys under the bymat. <a href=\"https:\/\/jsoncrew.com\/en\/2026\/03\/06\/jak-zapewnic-bezpieczenstwo-budujac-rozwiazanie-ai-w-firmie\/\">We previously wrote about securing AI systems in a company.<\/a>. These rules are now more important than ever.<\/p>\n<h3>Questions for your team<\/h3>\n<p>You might be thinking, \u201eBut we're not Anthropic. We don't publish AI models or npm packages.\u201d Fine, but honestly ask yourself: do you know exactly what's in your Docker image? Has anyone checked what the CMS is publishing publicly? Are API keys or test data definitely not lurking in the repository?<\/p>\n<p>Some specific questions for the next standup:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Does a CI\/CD pipeline check what actually ends up in the production package?<\/li>\n<li>Is anyone scanning artifacts before publication?<\/li>\n<li>Are you monitoring package sizes? 59.8 MB is a warning sign.<\/li>\n<li>Are the files <code>.map<\/code>, <code>.env<\/code> Are test data excluded from production?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Feature flags reveal the strategy<\/h3>\n<p>44 Flags is Anthropic's complete product roadmap. Features the company has never publicly discussed. For <a href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OpenAI<\/a> And Google is priceless knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>If your company uses feature flags, ensure that flags are removed from the code after the feature is enabled. Make sure their names don't reveal business plans. And that the code behind them doesn't end up in public artifacts.<\/p>\n<h3>Mythos changes the rules of the game<\/h3>\n<p>Documents indicate that AI agents can lead <strong>multiple hacking campaigns simultaneously<\/strong>. That employees using AI agents may unknowingly open the by to criminals. That identity theft is becoming easier than ever.
