What a customer typing “window configurator” is looking for
Prices. The phrase family “konfigurator okien” (window configurator) and “kalkulator okien” (window calculator) gets about 1,400 searches a month in Poland, and long-tail phrases are growing fastest: “kalkulator wymiany okien” (window replacement calculator, +262% year on year) and “okna trzyszybowe cena kalkulator” (triple-glazed windows price calculator, +326% year on year) (Google Keyword Planner, October 2025–September 2026). Searches peak in April. The customer compares offers before calling. A configurator that shows the price with a breakdown keeps them on the manufacturer's site instead of a price comparison site.
Most window configurators in Poland are a form with a picture or a simple window shape without a wall. The only real 3D in the Polish sample (Wingedas) shows a white shape against a photo, with no wall, sill or installation. Other tools give the catalogue Uw instead of the value for the specific window, have no inside view, or show the price only after a form is sent (REHAU, Internorm, heroal).
Six steps, one window in a wall
- Type and size: single-sash, double-sash, three sections (fixed, sash, fixed), fixed, balcony door and HS lift-and-slide, sized to the centimetre with dimension lines on the model.
- Profile and installation: uPVC 70 mm, uPVC 82 mm or aluminium 77 mm, with standard foam installation or warm installation with sealing tapes. The camera moves to a cross-section, so you can see the depth of the frame in the reveal.
- Outside colour: eight colours and foil finishes, plus Viennese glazing bars or bars between the panes.
- Glazing: double, triple, triple P4 burglar-resistant and triple frosted.
- Inside: the camera moves into the room. Here the customer chooses the inside colour, the handle, the interior sill and the trickle vent, and the “Tilt the window” and “Open the window” buttons move the sash.
- Summary: type and size, profile, colours on both sides, glazing, glazing bars, handle, sill and installation, plus the price with a breakdown.
Every part of the model can be clicked. A card shows what the element is, and the configurator goes to the step where you change it: the frame to the profile, the glass to the glazing, the handle and sill to the inside view.
Sizes and divisions
Each type has its own range of widths and heights. If a value is outside the range, the configurator trims it to the limit and says what it changed, e.g. that a single-sash window is 40 to 120 cm wide.
| Type in the demo | Width | Height |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed | 40–250 cm | 40–200 cm |
| Single-sash | 40–120 cm | 50–180 cm |
| Double-sash | 100–220 cm | 60–180 cm |
| Three sections: fixed, sash, fixed | 180–330 cm | 80–180 cm |
| Balcony door | 70–120 cm | 200–240 cm |
| HS lift-and-slide | 200–400 cm | 200–250 cm |
The ranges in the demo are close to market tables. ALUCON allows a tilt and turn window of 400–1200 × 500–2000 mm and a triple-sash window of 1800–2200 × 700–2000 mm (e-alucon.com). In double-sash windows one sash is usually no more than about 100 cm wide (Murator). The window sits in the opening with a 15 mm installation gap on each side, the way Wingedas calculates it: a 1030 × 1030 mm opening gives a 1000 × 1000 mm window (wingedas.com).
The size also drives the price per square metre. A Wiśniowski fixed window of 500 × 500 mm costs about PLN 1,554/m², and one of 2000 × 2000 mm about PLN 636/m² (kb.pl, 07.2025). The frame and hardware cost almost the same in a small and a large window, so the demo prices small windows from a minimum area.
Profiles and Uw under WT 2021
Since 2021, vertical windows and balcony doors in heated rooms must have a Uw of no more than 0.9 W/m²K, and roof windows no more than 1.1 W/m²K (WT 2021, the Polish technical building regulations, Dz.U. 2022 item 1225). The Czyste Powietrze (Clean Air) subsidy programme requires the same thresholds (muratordom.pl). A deeper profile usually has more chambers and a better Uw:
| System | Depth | Chambers | Catalogue Uw |
|---|---|---|---|
| Drutex IGLO 5 | 70 mm | 5 | 0.89 W/m²K |
| Aluplast IDEAL 8000 | 85 mm | 6 | 0.83 W/m²K at Ug 0.6 |
| Salamander bluEvolution 82 MD / 92 MD | 82 / 92 mm | 7 / 7 | 0.79 / 0.71 W/m²K |
The catalogue Uw is calculated for a reference window of 1230 × 1480 mm (drutex.pl). In a tender specification the same 4/18Ar/4/18Ar/4 unit gives a Uw of 0.88 for a 1360 × 2530 mm window and 1.1 for a 440 × 700 mm window (gov.pl). So a small window may fail WT even though the system meets it. The demo does not calculate Uw for the size. It shows the profile in cross-section, and with double glazing it displays a note about the 0.9 W/m²K threshold.
Glazing units
In 82 mm profiles a triple-glazed unit with Ug 0.5 is standard (Drutex IGLO ENERGY, Wiśniowski PRIMO 82), with Ug 0.3 as an option (okna-konfigurator.pl, kb.pl). An example build-up from a tender is 4/18Ar/4/18Ar/4, 48 mm thick, Ug 0.5, g = 54% and LT = 74% (gov.pl). The double-glazed unit in IGLO 5 has Ug 1.0 as standard.
- Double or triple glazing: the extra cost can be small. A 2700 × 2300 mm PSK tilt-and-slide door at Leroy Merlin costs PLN 4,699 with double glazing and PLN 4,999 with triple, i.e. 6.4% more (kb.pl, 04.2025). In the demo triple glazing is included in the price of the 82 mm and aluminium profiles, and in 70 mm it is added per square metre.
- Burglar-resistant glass: safety glass classes are P1A–P8B under EN 356, and an RC2 window must have glass to this standard. An example P4A unit is 44.4/16Ar/6T (PRESS GLASS).
- Frosted glass: for the bathroom. In the demo the pane loses its transparency, so the customer sees the effect on the model.
- Warm edge spacer: Drutex offers Swisspacer Ultimate as a free option (drutex.pl). The glazing card in the demo gives the unit thickness and the warm edge spacer.
Colours, foils and glazing bars
The customer chooses the colour separately for the outside (step 3) and the inside (step 5). The demo palette has eight options: white, cream, anthracite RAL 7016, quartz grey, matt black, golden oak, walnut and winchester. Woodgrain foils have grain in the model's material. The most popular colours in Poland are dark walnut, golden oak, light oak, bog oak, winchester, anthracite and graphite (kb.pl). In practice, anthracite means the RENOLIT Exofol Anthracite Grey 7016 foil, the most popular choice at OknoPlus and MS (muratordom.pl).
- Market surcharges: golden oak costs about 27% more than white (Debow), anthracite from 17% (OknoPlus) to 30% more (MS), and premium matt colours 32–35% more (Debow) (muratordom.pl, 01.2026).
- One-sided and two-sided: a one-sided foil, e.g. anthracite outside and white inside, is cheaper. Debow adds 9.9% for it (muratordom.pl), while a two-sided foil on a Drutex FIX of 1475 × 1305 mm costs about 18.7% more (kb.pl).
- Manufacturer's palette: Drutex has 41–43 colours from the Renolit range (okna-konfigurator.pl), okna-24.pl over 180 foils. The list in the demo is an example; in a deployment the palette comes from the manufacturer.
- Glazing bars: applied bars are 27, 45 or 65 mm, between-glass bars 8, 18, 26 or 45 mm (drutex.pl). In the demo Viennese and between-glass bars are drawn on the model and priced per pane.
Handle, sill and trickle vent
The customer only sees these elements from the inside, so they are in the step with the camera in the room. The handle comes in three variants: classic, lockable and rectangular. The interior sill can be uPVC, agglomerated stone or solid oak, and on the outside there is always an aluminium exterior sill under the window. A humidity-controlled trickle vent is fitted in the sash. Under WT a trickle vent is required with any ventilation other than mechanical (§155(3)).
Labour for sills costs about PLN 78–107 per linear metre for interior sills and PLN 94–123 per linear metre for exterior ones, incl. VAT (kb.pl, 07.01.2026). The demo prices the sill per linear metre: the window width plus 5 cm on each side.
Standard and warm installation
Standard installation means foam in the gap between the window and the wall. Warm installation adds tapes on the inside and outside, and once it is selected the tapes appear on the model in the reveal. The demo prices both variants per metre of window perimeter, as installation crews do.
| Service | Price | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Window installation, labour | PLN 44.10–58.80/lin. m incl. VAT | kb.pl, 07.01.2026 |
| Warm installation, Warsaw / Kraków | PLN 44–51 / 42–48/lin. m | muratordom.pl, 03.2026 |
| Removing and installing a uPVC window | PLN 300–800 each | muratordom.pl, 2026 |
| Finishing the reveals, with materials | PLN 152–188/lin. m | kb.pl, 07.01.2026 |
How we calculate the price
The same way as manufacturers' price lists: a rate per square metre of the system, a fixed amount for each sash with its hardware, a percentage surcharge for the foil, a glazing surcharge based on area, extras per piece and installation per metre of perimeter. An HS window is priced from a set price up to 4 m² plus a rate for every square metre above that. The “How is it priced?” button expands the items with their calculation, e.g. “2.25 m² × rate”. The rates in the demo come from public price lists from 2025–2026 (including kb.pl, Murator, and Drutex, Debow and Wiśniowski prices). In the version for a manufacturer we plug in their price list and their rules.
| Item | Market price | Source |
|---|---|---|
| White window approx. 150 × 150 cm (1465 × 1435 mm), double-sash | PLN 1,219.53–1,778.11 excl. VAT | muratordom.pl: Debow, MS, OknoPlus, 16.01.2026 |
| One-sided / two-sided foil | +12% / +25% in the demo | calibrated on Debow, Drutex and kb.pl prices |
| Installation | PLN 44.10–58.80/m of perimeter | kb.pl, 07.01.2026 |
| Two-part HS | from PLN 9,765 (Wiśniowski HST 1800 × 2100) and PLN 10,342 excl. VAT (Drutex HS 4100 × 2000) | kb.pl |
Manufacturers calculate a window's price from a system × design × size matrix, and publicly quote “from PLN X”, e.g. Drutex IGLO 5 “from PLN 171.91 + VAT” (okna-konfigurator.pl). Each opening sash is a fixed surcharge for hardware: a Wiśniowski 2000 × 2000 mm window costs PLN 2,546 as a fixed window and PLN 3,515 as tilt and turn, i.e. 38% more (kb.pl). The demo reproduces this structure, so the manufacturer swaps the rates, not the logic.
VAT at 8% or 23%
Windows bought without installation carry the standard Polish VAT rate of 23%. When windows are bought with installation in residential construction, the reduced rate of 8% applies (wingedas.com, kb.pl). The demo always prices the window with installation and shows prices incl. VAT at 8%. The detailed conditions for the 8% rate must be checked before an invoice is issued, because the configurator does not assess them.
Rules that save a call to the office
An HS window is not made in a 70 mm profile, so the configurator switches it to 82 mm and says why. A fixed window gets no trickle vent or handle. Balcony doors and HS stand on a threshold, without an interior sill. With a double-glazed unit the configurator reminds the customer that since 2021 a window in a new house must have a Uw of no more than 0.9 W/m²K (WT 2021). Options that do not fit the type disappear from the panel with the reason shown, e.g. “The door stands on a threshold, no sill”.
What the manufacturer or dealer gets
A configurator on their own website, with their own systems, colours and price list. The page address stores every choice, so the link opens exactly the window the customer set up. The configuration arrives as an enquiry with the full set of parameters, the price breakdown and the link, so the salesperson does not start by asking about size and colour. The same window model serves the roller shutter configurator: the shutter sits in the same wall, above the same window.
If you also sell shading, see the 3D roller shutter configurator; interior joinery is shown in the 3D concealed door configurator. You can work out an indicative implementation cost in the configurator cost estimator.
