What a roller shutter customer is looking for
Price and size. The phrase “rolety zewnętrzne” (external roller shutters) gets about 27,000 searches a month, and few people add the word “configurator”: “rolety zewnętrzne konfigurator” has 78 searches (+88% year on year), “konfigurator rolet zewnętrznych” 52 (Google Keyword Planner). In Germany “Rollladen konfigurator” gets 390 searches. Customers type “made to measure”, “price per m2” and “with installation”, so a roller shutter page has to show the price straight away.
On the market, 3D and price rarely go together. heroal and WAREMA have 3D configurators without a price, while shops with a price for every option (dopasujrolety.pl, PanelDom, roleta.pl) show photos or nothing. No one in the sample we checked shows the shutter together with the window in a wall, or that a top-mounted shutter makes the window smaller.
Top-mounted, concealed or surface-mounted
This is the customer's first question and the configurator's first step. A concealed shutter is planned in the house design, because it needs a suitable lintel. A top-mounted shutter is installed together with a new window. A surface-mounted shutter goes onto a finished facade without replacing the windows (Krispol). In 3D the difference is visible at once, without a technical drawing.
- Surface-mounted: the box on the facade above the opening, e.g. Krispol RS or Portos ST2000. Shops often also call it an adaptive or facade shutter (Aluplast RAS, roleta.pl).
- Concealed: the box in the insulated lintel, under render or clinker brick, e.g. Krispol RZ, Aluprof SP, Anwis SOLIDO. The decision is made at the design stage, because the shape of the lintel depends on it.
- Top-mounted: the box on the window frame, fitted together with the window, e.g. Krispol RN, Anwis BeClever, Aluprof SKT. It is hidden from the outside; from the inside you see an inspection flap. The window is ordered shorter by the box height.
- External venetian blind: a head box on the facade and slats that tilt. We describe it below.
When the mounting type changes, the lintel in the model is rebuilt. With a top-mounted shutter the configurator says how many centimetres shorter the window will be.
Opening size and the window under the shutter
The customer enters the width and height of the opening to the centimetre, within 60–370 cm of width and 60–300 cm of height. The upper width limit is the limit for a 52 mm curtain from the Anwis catalogue (3.7 m), and PanelDom sells shutters from 350 to 3700 mm wide.
The window in the scene adapts to the opening. A low opening gets a single-sash, double-sash or three-section window, and an opening from 200 cm high gets a balcony door or, from 180 cm wide, an HS lift-and-slide door. The customer immediately sees the shutter above the window they have at home.
The box and profile select themselves
The configurator chooses the smallest box that can hold a curtain of the given height, according to the Krishome and Aluplast tables. With a 39 mm curtain, a 137 mm box holds a shutter with a total height of up to 1.5 m (including the box), and a 165 mm box up to 2.4 m. When the shutter is wider than 2.8 m or larger than 6 m², the curtain switches to 45 or 52 mm (Anwis catalogue). The model changes with the choice and explains why.

Typical box heights are 125, 137, 150, 165, 180 and 205 mm (Aluplast RAS), and RC3 burglar-resistant shutters have 180 and 250 mm boxes (kb.pl). At Krishome a top-mounted shutter with an insect screen needs a 245 mm box. The box height is shown in the summary and on the part card.
Drive and the rules an installer knows
The drive step has the camera inside, because that is where the customer sees the strap winder, crank or switch. The options are a strap with winder, a crank, a motor with a switch, a radio motor with remote control and a Somfy io motor for smart home. The curtain card gives its weight: a 39 mm curtain weighs 2.8 kg/m² (Krishome), and for 45 and 52 mm the demo uses an estimate.
- A strap works up to a 12 kg curtain; the configurator switches a heavier shutter to a crank (Anwis, Krishome). EN 13659 limits the strap pulling force to 90 N.
- A radio motor fits in a shutter from 78 cm wide (PanelDom). A narrower shutter with a radio motor gets a motor with a switch.
- An insect screen in the guide rails is available from 61 cm wide and needs a larger box (Krishome).
- The external venetian blind comes with a motor, and one wider than 3.5 m gets a head box split into segments.
Market surcharges for the drive at the PanelDom shop: push-button motor +PLN 200, radio +PLN 250, with obstacle detection +PLN 350–420, receiver for shutters wider than 780 mm +PLN 120, remote +PLN 99–212. Connecting the motor to a wall box costs PLN 200–400 per point (cenauslug.pl, 2026).
Colours of the curtain, box and guide rails
The curtain colour is chosen separately, and the box and guide rail colour separately. The camera then moves up to the box. Demo palette: anthracite RAL 7016, white, silver, grey RAL 7038, brown RAL 8019, golden oak, walnut and winchester. A woodgrain curtain carries a percentage surcharge; its rate in the demo is an estimate.
- The Aluplast 39 mm aluminium curtain comes in over 30 colours, 45 and 52 mm in about 16 each, and the PVC curtain only in white, beige and grey (aluplast.com.pl).
- Boxes are white, brown, dark brown, grey and anthracite as standard, and to order in woodgrain foils or any RAL colour (aluplast.com.pl). Krispol paints boxes in over 200 RAL colours.
- heroal offers over 500 RAL shades and the box also in wood, concrete and rust effects (heroal.de).
External venetian blinds C80 and Z90
The external venetian blind has the same steps as the shutter, but instead of the curtain profile the customer chooses the slat, and in the drive step weather automation: a wind sensor, a sun sensor or both. The “Tilt the slats” button lowers the blind and tilts the slats. The head box is selected by height from 220, 270, 320 and 350 mm (Aliplast also lists 400 mm); the selection thresholds in the demo are an estimate.

Table sources: Aliplast and nowe-fasady.pl (22.06.2026). A blind wider than 3500 mm has a head box split into 2–3 segments with separate drives (nowe-fasady.pl). Slat colours stocked by Aliplast include RAL 7016, 9005, 9006 and 9007. Production takes 25–40 working days (dopasujrolety.pl, nowe-fasady.pl).
The blind also counts under the regulations. WT 2021 (the Polish technical building regulations) requires the g-value of windows in summer not to exceed 0.35, and a white external blind with adjustable slats has an fC factor of 0.10–0.35 (Dz.U. 2022 item 1225). The demo does not calculate g for the window. It is an argument for the salesperson on south- and west-facing facades.
Insect screen and installation
In the extras step the customer adds an insect screen in the guide rails and chooses whether the shutter is installed by a crew or by themselves. The insect screen unrolls on the model, and the box grows if needed. The external venetian blind has no insect screen, so the panel does not show it.

How the price is calculated in the demo
A rate per square metre by mounting type, a surcharge for the profile and woodgrain colour, and the drive, remote, insect screen and installation per piece. The rates come from 2025–2026 price lists: surface-mounted on the wall about PLN 414/m², concealed about PLN 394/m² (kb.pl, prices incl. VAT, without installation), C80 blind about PLN 950/m² with head box. A small shutter is priced from a minimum area, because the box and drive cost the same. In the version for a manufacturer we plug in their price list.

Prices in the table include VAT and exclude installation. Manual shutters are about 20% and electric ones about 25% more expensive than in 2024 (muratordom.pl, 02.2026). Manufacturers price differently from shops: Krishome has a width × height price grid in 100 mm steps, separate for each box, with cells unavailable beyond the limit. The demo uses a rate per m² with surcharges, and a manufacturer's price list can be connected in its own structure.
Shutter and window in one scene
The roller shutter configurator uses the wall and window model from the window configurator. This lets a top-mounted shutter show the window shorter by the box, and a concealed one sit in the same lintel as the window. The phrase “rolety zewnętrzne” (external roller shutters) has a high volume and “konfigurator rolet” (roller shutter configurator) a low one, so the shutter sells well as an add-on to the window. Both scenes share a wall, so they can be combined into one ordering path.
What the manufacturer and installer get
The page address stores every choice, so the link opens exactly the shutter the customer set up. The summary collects the type and size of the opening, the curtain profile with its weight (or the slat), the box or head box height, the colours, drive, insect screen or automation, and installation, and the “How is it priced?” button expands the price items. The enquiry reaches the salesperson with this summary, the price and the link.
